Matagorda Bay
Matagorda has a gently sloping beach of fine, dark sand. It has a pleasantly busy town centre with a fantastic choice of restaurants and two small supermarkets. In general Matagorda is ideal for those seeking a peaceful, relaxing holiday without too many bright lights, however it is perfectly placed as it is just over a mile from Lanzarote's large bustling holiday resort of Puerto del Carmen allowing you access to the nightlife and entertainment available there giving you the best of both worlds.
Casa Audrey
Casa Audrey is a beautifully finished and fully furnished 1st floor apartment. It is open plan with plenty of space for a family holiday. It has a fitted kitchen, bathroom with double shower, drying area and double bedroom with fitted wardrobes. The Kitchen features an electric hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. The Lounge is furnished with a flat screen TV, 2 sofa beds (converting to 4 singles or 2 double beds), satellite T.V. and WI-FI availability. The spacious balcony measures 12.5 ft x 8.5ft and has amazing panoramic sea views. Casa Audrey is a self catering apartment and has a full complement of cutlery, dishes, bed and bath linen.
On Site
The reception area has a pool table, book swap library and soft drinks dispensing machine, together with internet access. There is a large heated pool and a children's pool with free sun loungers. In addition there are two further sunbathing areas, a sunset terrace with palm trees, communal gardens and off road parking.
Shopping
Matagorda has a two-storey shopping centre containing 2 supermarkets, many souvenir stores, car and bike hire, perfect for local shopping and accessories for the home. For more extensive shopping your neighbouring resort Puerto del Carmen is bristling with a variety for shops from duty-free electrical stores and designer boutiques to stalls selling all kinds of everything along the main strip. Play Honda, another neighbouring resort is close to the airport. It has a large busy shopping centre(Deiland) with designer boutiques and a large supermarket with plenty of parking and restaurants and bars outside. Shopping Fuerteventura is a great day out. Take the ferry from playa Blanca to the neighbouring island in the south.
Activities
A wide variety of watersports can be enjoyed in Matagorda, especially windsurfing. Other fun activities range from banana boat rides and jet skiing to parasailing, scuba diving and deep sea fishing. Scuba diving is available at a discounted rate locally. Other sports available include tennis and golf. Several day trips are on offer such as boat rides or visits to Timanfaya National Park or the Water park at La Baku. Daily sailings depart from Playa Blanca to the beautiful nearby island of Fuertaventura by high speed Ferry.
Nightlife
There is a great selection of waterfront pubs and bars, most of which have lively evening entertainment, nightlife in general in Matagorda is quiet and civilised. Visitors looking for a more vibrant night out opt to travel a short distance to Puerto del Carmen.
Restaurants
Most of Matagorda's restaurants are situated in the central commercial area around a square. The choice is extensive, ranging from Chinese and Greek to British and Japanese, with the usual pizza, pasta and grill houses thrown in.
